Reports & Records

Graduation Veterinary Exam & Coggins

Before a horse completes the Crossroads Ranch Evidence-Based Equine Development Program, it undergoes a comprehensive Graduation Veterinary Examination. This final evaluation confirms the horse’s overall soundness, physical condition, and readiness for continued training or sale. Conducted by our licensed veterinarian in partnership with Honeysuckle’s Ranch Academy, the exam verifies joint health, movement, and fitness — ensuring every Crossroads-Developed Horse leaves the program healthy, capable, and prepared for long-term success.

X-Rays

Some horses in the Crossroads Ranch Evidence-Based Equine Development Program receives baseline leg radiographs as part of its intake evaluation. These X-rays provide a clear picture of bone health, joint integrity, and overall soundness, allowing our veterinary team to identify potential issues early and ensure each horse begins training on a solid, pain-free foundation.

CRIO Online Profile

Each horse at Crossroads Ranch has a Crio Online Profile, a secure digital record that houses the horse’s complete development history. The profile includes DNA results, veterinary records, radiographs, farrier reports, training notes, photos, and video updates — all accessible online for full transparency.

The Crio system allows clients, veterinarians, and trainers to track progress in real time, ensuring every Crossroads-Developed Horse is backed by verifiable data and documented evidence of care, training, and performance.

Registration Papers

Each horse in the Crossroads Ranch Evidence-Based Equine Development Program includes verified registration papers when applicable. We confirm breed registry status, ownership history, and identification details to ensure transparency and authenticity. Registration information is documented in the horse’s Crio Online Profile and provided to new owners at graduation, guaranteeing that every Crossroads-Developed Horse is backed by verifiable lineage and legal documentation.

Etalon DNA Report

Every horse at Crossroads Ranch undergoes Etalon ProPanel + Ancestry DNA testing as part of our intake process. This comprehensive genetic analysis identifies health markers, coat color genetics, performance traits, and/or ancestry, giving us a scientific foundation for each horse’s individualized training and care plan. The Etalon DNA Report is stored in the horse’s Crio Online Profile and reviewed during development to ensure evidence-based decisions at every stage.

Crossroads Ranch Scoring Report

Each horse entering the Crossroads Ranch Evidence-Based Equine Development Program receives a Crossroads Ranch Scoring Report (CRSR) during intake. This detailed assessment establishes baseline scores across four key areas: Psychology, Health, Conformation, and Performance.

The final CRSR is included in the horse’s Crio Online Profile and reviewed during the Graduation Examination Report, ensuring every Crossroads-Developed Horse meets the highest standards of safety, soundness, and performance.

Lyric — Black Friesian Sporthorse Mare

Lyric is a stunning, seasoned, and genuinely versatile mare with a depth of experience both under saddle and in harness. She has been thoughtfully trained and proven across multiple disciplines, making her a wonderful choice for someone who wants a capable, experienced partner rather than a one lane horse.

Under saddle, Lyric is solid and reliable, especially on the trail where she is confident, steady, and sensible. She is comfortable with water crossings, varied terrain, and obstacle work and approaches new situations with a calm, willing attitude. She excels in Western Dressage and performs extremely well at shows, showing correctness, responsiveness, and pride in her work.

Lyric has also been fox hunted by both a 12 year old child and an amateur adult, works cows, and has experience in formation riding and drill work. Her versatility reflects not only her training, but her kind, adaptable mindset.

What truly sets Lyric apart is her personality. She is extremely sweet, affectionate, and people focused. She enjoys connection, seeks out her person, and is happiest spending time with those she trusts, whether that is during grooming, quiet moments in the barn aisle, or simply being together.

She is soft natured and attentive and takes comfort in routine and familiar faces. Lyric genuinely wants a relationship with her person and forms strong bonds.

Her kindness does not mean she is dull. Under saddle she is engaged and responsive, while on the ground she is gentle, loving, and easy to be around. She is the kind of horse who takes pride in her job and enjoys having a purpose.

Lyric is also broke to drive and works comfortably in harness, bringing the same steady, prepared attitude to driving that she does under saddle. This versatility makes her a wonderful option for someone who enjoys variety.

She is well handled and accustomed to routine barn life. She loads, ties, and stands quietly for grooming, veterinary, and farrier care and has been thoughtfully maintained. Lyric is an easy keeper, does not require shoes, stays fit on reasonable feed, and prefers living outside full time.

She is also easily bred and would make an exceptional broodmare.

Lyric is best suited for an intermediate to confident rider who appreciates a well trained, responsive horse. She is not recommended for true beginners, but she is a wonderful partner for someone who rides with feel and consistency.

Lyric offers rare versatility, proven experience, and maturity. Horses like her, with both a kind heart and a capable mind, are becoming harder and harder to find.

The Crossroads Evidence-Based Equine Development Method

Where Art Meets Science in Horsemanship

At Crossroads Ranch, we believe equine development is both an art and a science. That philosophy inspired the creation of the Crossroads Evidence-Based Equine Development Method — a structured, six-stage system designed to produce confident, reliable, and emotionally balanced equine partners.

Every horse in our program begins at Stage 1: Knowledge and progresses through all six stages before earning the title of a Crossroads Certified Graduate — a true solid equine citizen.

Stage 1: Knowledge

Understanding before action.
Each horse’s journey begins with data-driven discovery. We collect a hair sample for EtalonDx ProPanel + Ancestry DNA testing ($329/horse), providing insights into color genetics, temperament markers, endurance, congenital traits, and ancestry.

Alongside this, every horse receives:

  • A full veterinary examination

  • Farrier evaluation and hoof care

  • A trainer-led Intake: Crossroads Equine Scoring System Report

These foundational steps establish a complete biological and behavioral baseline — the starting point for everything that follows.

Stage 2: Comprehension

From information to interpretation.
In this stage, our team studies what the horse has revealed — mentally, physically, and emotionally — and develops a customized advancement plan. This plan outlines the most effective approach for that horse’s growth, ensuring their training aligns with both science and empathy.

Stage 3: Application

Turning insight into progress.
With the plan in place, we begin active work. We integrate DNA findings, address any pending veterinary or farrier items, and start the horse’s hands-on training process. This is where observation becomes motion — and training goals begin to take shape.

Stage 4: Analysis

Where art and science merge.
During this stage, we perform a comprehensive Hippology Study — our in-depth assessment of the horse’s history, environment, learned behaviors, and instinctual responses.

We may consult external experts to confirm best practices for horses with specific genetic, physical, or psychological profiles. The result is a complete Hippology Report, documenting:

  • Origin and prior environment

  • Behavioral and adaptive patterns

  • Strengths and challenges

  • Individual learning style

The outcome of Stage 4 is a fully informed development blueprint tailored to that horse’s unique nature.

Stage 5: Synthesis

Building the complete horse.
Here, we synchronize all four pillars of the Crossroads Method:
Psychology. Health. Conformation. Performance.

Our trainers apply daily, progressive conditioning — both physical and cognitive — while monitoring measurable benchmarks using the Crossroads Equine Scoring Method.
This ensures each horse becomes not only capable, but consistent — responsive, confident, and ready for real-world partnership.

Stage 6: Evaluation

Proof of readiness.
In the final stage, the horse undergoes a graduation veterinary examination and farrier review. We confirm all four categories — Psychology, Health, Conformation, and Performance — meet Crossroads certification standards.

Once validated, the horse becomes a Crossroads Certified Graduate, ready for placement with its forever partner.

Most horses complete the program within 3 to 12 months, depending on individual needs and progress rate.

The Result: A Horse You Can Trust

The Crossroads Method doesn’t just create trained horses — it creates trustworthy partners.
Our blend of scientific assessment, data-driven development, and compassionate training ensures every horse leaving Crossroads Ranch is not only well-prepared, but truly understood.
